Ingredients
Fish Head - 1 cut into 4 piece (This was Large one.. if you have medium one then make into 2 halfs)
Moong Dal - 1 cup (boiled with 2 drops of oil and turmeric)
Mustard oil - about 4 Tbs to 6Tbs to fry the head and remaning oil for the dal
Cloves -1
Cinnamon sticks - 1(1 inch)
Cardamom - 1
Bay Leaf - 1
Onions - 1/2 from large sliced
Green Chilies - 4 cut into halfs
Tomato - 1 medium finely chopped
Ginger paste - 1/4 Tbs
Garlic paste -1/4Tbs
Tumeric - 1/4 Ts
Red Chili powder - 1/4 Ts
Garm Masala - 1/4 Ts
Salt to taste
First marinated the fish head with salt and turmeric for about 15 to 20 mins .. in the mean time boil the moong dal ,set aside and chop all the onions,green chilies etc.. set aside...
Take a thick bottom pan pour mustard oil and heat till smoking point .. and fry the the head on either side to golden brown.. and set this in plate... to the same oil add Cloves+Cinnamon sticks+Cardamom+Bay Leaf as they crack.. add the onions and green chilies ... once the onions turn transperent add the ginger and garlic paste and fry continuously start adding the dry powders i.e., the Tumeric+Red Chili powder+Garm Masala+ and fry for about 1 mins then add the tomato and stir... as the tomato turn soft add the moong dal along with salt to it.. be cautious about the salt as u have already add in the fish so it is ONLY for dal... and cook for about 8 mins then give fine stir .. just crack the fish head .. and drop it in the dal and cook under cover for 5 to 8 mins on medium flame... enjoy with hot rice... along with Kachkola bhaja....(Raw banana fries)
