DESCRIPTION - Turmeric and salt rubbed fried fish cooked with Eggplant.. seasoned with Black seeds (kalonji).. with a lot of coriander powder and leaves...
Makes for 2
Ingredients
Mustard Oil - 4Tbs
Fish - Ruhu- 4
Kalonji - 1/4Ts
Onions - 1/2 medium sliced thin (optional)
Ginger - 1Tbs
Green chilies - 4
Tomato - 1 small sliced thin
Water - 1 cup
Red Chili powder - 1Tsp
Garma Masala - 1/4Tsp
Dhania powder- 1.5 Tsp
Begun (Eggplant) - 1 medium cut into cubes
Salt and turmeric for marinating the fish and for the curry
Rice Powder - 1 Tbs
Basic - This step will apply for most of the Bengali fish curries. First wash the fish. Secondly rub turmeric and salt, set aside. Fry the Veggies first then fry fish to golden brown and set aside.
Use the same oil which you have fried the fish... add kalonji followed with onions ... fry until transparent, add green chilies.. stir then add ginger fry .. start sprinkling the dry powders salt,turmeric.,Red Chili powder,Garma Masala and Dhania powder and tomato together and fry well... until the tomato turns sightly soft then add Eggplant after 2 to 3 mins add water about 1 cup and boil it ... when the Eggplant is almost done add mix rice flour with little bit of water pour slowly .Drop of the fish into the water and cook for about 2 to 3mins max.. and turn off the heat. Serve with rice.
