Kadale Bele Kutu


Description :- Channa Dal and Moog Dal cooked with Squash zested with spices..This a south indian delicacy can be enjoyed with Roti or rice..


Makes for 2

Ingredients

Moog Dal - 1/2 cup
Channa dal - 1/4 cup (soaked for 30mins)
Bottle Gourd/Snake Gourd/Squash/- 2 to 4 (cut into Large cubes)
Oil - 2.5Tbs
Jeera - 1/2Ts
CurryLeaves - 4 leave
Whole Red Chili - 2 ..split into half
Onion - 1/2 in Medium sliced other 1/2 for grinding
Green Chili - 4
Coconut - 8Tbs
Coriander leaves - Handful
Ginger - 1/2 inch
Garlic -2 cloves
Tomato -2 medium
Garam masala powder - 1/4Ts
Red Chili powder -1/4Ts
Jeera Powder - 1/2Tbs
Dhaniya powder -1Tbs
Salt to taste

Soak the channa dal for about 1/2 hr and cook along with Moong dal with a pinch of turmeric and few drops of oil, set aside. See to that the channa dal has to retain its texture but the moog dal should be completly cooked.

Grind the following ingredients to smooth paste :- Onion - 1/2 in Medium +Green Chili+Coconut+Coriander +Ginger+Garlic+Tomato+Garam masala powder +Red Chili powder+Jeera Powder+Dhaniya powder+ coriander leaves


Take a thick bottom pan pour oil.. heat to a good temper .. add the jeera.. as it cracks add the curry leaves and whole red chili, give a stir... now add the onion and fry untill the onions turn transparent now add the squash ... and fry for about 2 mins ... now add the grounded paste and fry for about 2 to 3 mins .. and then add dal, sprinkle some salt and give stir.. and cook until the squash is done... serve with rice or roti.. amazing one.. I prefer a boiled egg with this curry...
